Nun Better is a shop for good coffee, useful goods, and thoughtful gifts.
I spent a decade in East Africa and met my Maryland-born wife over there. Fifteen years later our son started helping the nuns at St Sidonia's tend their sheep flock here in Union Bridge, MD.
Then we discovered they roast coffee beans grown on the slopes of Mt Elgon - close to where my wife & I once worked.
This 'coincidence', and the cheerful humble loving way the sisters interact with our family, was the inspiration for starting Nun Better — these folk make good stuff and it deserves to reach much further than their gift-shop counter.
So a partnership was born - we market, they make.

St Sidonia's Monastery
The Sisterhood prays the full cycle of daily services and celebrates the Feasts of the Liturgical year.
Their prayers and liturgies are combined with hospitality to visitors, caring for the gardens, sheep, chickens, pigs, and beehives, making prayer ropes, natural skin balms and oils, mounting icons in the wood working shop, sewing monastic and ecclesiastical garb, baking Prosphora for the Liturgy, and roasting coffee, to name a few of their obediences.
